Welcome to Ava Winter Psychotherapy

I'm Ava Winter, a psychotherapist working with adults and couples, offering in-person sessions in Guernsey and online across the UK.
Many people come to therapy when they are struggling with depression, anxiety or trauma that feels overwhelming, difficult to manage and hard to hold alone.
For others, the need for therapy is quieter: a space to be really seen and heard, where they can process their inner lives and make sense of their experiences.
Some choose psychotherapy as part of their ongoing self-care, not in response to a crisis, but as a way of supporting emotional wellbeing, reflection, and understanding.

Wherever you are, I aim to meet you there and to offer you a space to pause, reflect, and begin to understand your inner experience with empathy, support and respect.
A space to be heard and understood
I work from the belief that how you feel makes sense in the context of your life, relationships, and experiences. My role is not to diagnose or judge, but to help you explore and understand your inner experience with empathy, curiosity, and respect.
Therapy with me is a collaborative process. I aim to offer a steady, thoughtful space where you can speak freely, reflect honestly, and begin to make sense of what may feel confusing or overwhelming. Over time, this can support greater self-understanding, emotional capacity, and a clearer sense of how you want to move forward.

Who I work with
Individuals
I work with people who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties. This often includes anxiety and depression shaped by trauma, neurodiversity or earlier life experiences, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, chronic illness, stress and burnout, and significant life transitions.
Some people come to therapy because life has become unmanageable or painful. Others come because they want to understand themselves better, feel less conflicted, or move through life with greater ease and confidence.
Couples
Couples may seek therapy to navigate conflict, improve communication or enhance intimacy and connection. While therapy has traditionally been associated with relationships facing breakdown, it is increasingly recognised as a proactive way to enhance communication, increase understanding and strengthen bonds before issues escalate.
You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation for how you feel. Therapy can begin wherever you are.
