Policies

This page brings together key information about how I work, how your data is protected, and the professional standards I am committed to.

Privacy & Data Protection

I take the protection of your personal information seriously and comply with applicable data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017, as relevant to the location of the client.

Personal and sensitive data is collected only where necessary for the provision of psychotherapy and counselling services and is stored securely.

Information is retained in line with professional and legal requirements, and you have rights of access, rectification, restriction, and erasure in accordance with the applicable data protection laws. Full details of what data is collected, how it is used, how long it is kept, and your rights are set out in the Data Protection & Privacy Notice.

Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function properly and to understand how visitors use the site. Some cookies are essential for the operation of the website. Others are used to collect anonymised information about how visitors interact with the site, such as which pages are visited and how long users stay on the site. This helps me understand how the website is being used and make improvements over time.

Where required under UK GDPR and related legislation, you will be asked to give your consent before non‑essential cookies are placed on your device. You can manage or withdraw your consent at any time through your browser settings or via the cookie banner on the website.

Confidentiality

Psychotherapy and counselling sessions are confidential. There are limited and clearly defined circumstances in which confidentiality may be broken, for example where there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where disclosure is required by law. These limits to confidentiality are explained fully in the Privacy Notice and are discussed at the start of therapy.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

I am committed to providing a respectful, inclusive, and non‑discriminatory therapeutic environment. I work in line with the Prevention of Discrimination (Guernsey) Ordinance, 2022, and with the principles of UK equality legislation where applicable. I welcome clients of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Therapy is offered with sensitivity, fairness, and respect.

Health & Safety

I take reasonable steps to provide a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. Risk assessments are carried out where appropriate, and procedures are in place for emergencies, including access to first aid and emergency contacts.

Professional Standards & Complaints

I practise in accordance with the ethical frameworks of my professional bodies. If you have any concerns about your therapy, I encourage you to raise these with me in the first instance so we can try to resolve them openly and constructively. If a concern cannot be resolved in this way, information about how to make a formal complaint is provided in the Client Contract, which is shared and discussed before therapy begins.

Working Together

Details about how therapy is offered, including fees, cancellations, confidentiality, contact outside sessions, and endings, are set out in the Client Contract, which is discussed and agreed before therapy begins.
